|Salt based water softeners have traditionally take up lots of space. Things have got better with twin cylinders models, but often you will still need to give up a kitchen cupboard for the unit and other storage space for the salt, which needs to be bulk brought in order to keep the cost of the salt down.
With the invention of the Zinc based water softener alternative things have changed, in terms of space needed for the unit and the method in which the water is softened. The Zinc based units don’t physically remove any lime but instead it will remove the problem of the lime which is it’s tendency adhere to everything, and stopping soap doing it’s job. The Zinc is released into the water and reacts with lime which creates an non adhering lime called Aragonite.

|You need to be careful with other Zinc based type units as they don’t have any where near as much Zinc as our units, and there is no eddy generators included which will keep the Zinc free from limescale. Once the Zinc has a coating of limescale the unit stops working, some have even been know to block up completely.||

some time in a humidifier of an air – conditioning system.
A truly remarkable piece of kit. Like everyone I was a bit sceptical at first but this unit has been fit and forget and so easy to install. We are a hard water area and limescale was an unsightly problem but is now a thing of the past. Unit starting its 5th year in use and no deterioration in performance noticed yet.
We have very hard water and lime scale is a problem for all appliances and particularly the shower. Had a refit recently and incorporated an Aquabion Mini …. only a month in but looks good. Will be adding one to washing machine soon … as we have been through 3 machines in 10 years
