What is a water conditioner?

A water conditioner differs from a water softener by not removing the ions that cause limescale, but instead a water conditioner changes the ion. Most water conditioners do this by trying to change the shape or make it smaller. An Aquabion water conditioner adds zinc ions to the calcium ions making them bigger. The new mineral is called Aragonite, and this removes old limescale as well as stopping any new limescale problems.

WHY INSTALL A WATER CONDITIONER OVER A WATER SOFTENER?

Water softeners have three main problems:

  1. Costly salt and water consumption
  2. Takes up a lot of cupboard space
  3. High installation and maintenance costs

A water conditioner doesn’t use any salt or water, the installation is a lot faster and they require no ongoing maintenance.

The major problem with water conditioners is the varied performance. Their effectiveness ranges from 30% – 97%. Any water conditioner getting an effectiveness below 90% is generally deemed by users to be useless.

WHAT TECHNOLOGIES DO WATER CONDITIONERS USE?

Magnetic and electronic fields are the most common type and there is a massive number of brands to choose from. The use of Zinc sacrificial anodes has been known for some time but no one has been able to apply this method effectively until the patented Aquabion method was invented.

HOW DO I KNOW WHICH WATER CONDITIONERS ARE ANY GOOD?

Any trustworthy company will provide you with independent test results in full, so you can satisfy yourself, that the system is for you.

A truly remarkable piece of kit. Like everyone I was a bit sceptical at first but this unit has been fit and forget and so easy to install. We are a hard water area and limescale was an unsightly problem but is now a thing of the past. Unit starting its 5th year in use and no deterioration in performance noticed yet.

We have very hard water and lime scale is a problem for all appliances and particularly the shower. Had a refit recently and incorporated an Aquabion Mini …. only a month in but looks good. Will be adding one to washing machine soon … as we have been through 3 machines in 10 years

Since we have had this product fitted our water has been great for our skin, great for our dishwasher and washing machines as we notice our clothes feel fresher.  I would recommend this product to my friends and further suggest that this product will save you money in the long term as it will reduce issues with pipe clogging up. All new homes being built in a hard water area should have this product fitted as a mandatory instruction for all builders
